Cookie Policy
This Cookie Policy explains how Beliq ("we", "us", "our") uses cookies, local storage, and session storage on our website (beliq.eu) and dashboard (dashboard.beliq.eu). It should be read together with our Privacy Policy.
1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files that are placed on your device by websites you visit. They are widely used to make websites work efficiently and to provide information to site operators. Cookies can be "session" cookies (deleted when you close your browser) or "persistent" cookies (stored until they expire or you delete them).
2. Legal Framework
Under Section 25 of the German Telecommunications Digital Services Data Protection Act (TDDDG, formerly TTDSG), which implements the EU ePrivacy Directive, storing information on or accessing information from a user's device requires consent unless the storage is strictly necessary for the service explicitly requested by the user (Section 25(2) TDDDG).
3. Cookies We Use
3.1 Essential Cookies (No Consent Required)
These cookies are strictly necessary for the Service to function. They fall under the exemption in TDDDG Section 25(2) and do not require consent. They are set on the dashboard (dashboard.beliq.eu) once you sign in.
| Cookie | Provider | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
authjs.session-token /__Secure-authjs.session-token | Beliq (NextAuth) | Stores your authenticated session as a signed JWT. Required for login functionality on the dashboard. | 7 days |
authjs.csrf-token | Beliq (NextAuth) | Protects against cross-site request forgery (CSRF) attacks during authentication. | Session |
authjs.callback-url | Beliq (NextAuth) | Stores the callback URL during the sign-in flow. | Session |
Legal basis: TDDDG Section 25(2) (strictly necessary for the service requested by the user); Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (performance of a contract).
We do not set any advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, and there is no consent banner because there are no non-essential cookies to consent to. Our website analytics is cookieless (see Section 3.2). Our newsletter signup also sets no cookies: your consent is recorded by our email processor, not stored in your browser.
3.2 Analytics (Cookieless)
We measure how our website and documentation are used with Umami, a privacy-focused, open-source analytics tool we self-host on our own server in the EU. Umami is cookieless: it sets no cookies and stores no identifier in your browser or on your device. Because it neither stores information on nor reads information from your device, it falls outside the consent requirement of TDDDG Section 25, which is why no analytics cookie appears in the table above. For details of what Umami measures, see Section 10 of our Privacy Policy.
3.3 Support Chat (Loads Only When You Open It)
Our live support chat runs on Chatwoot, which we self-host on our own server in the EU. The chat loads only after you click to open it, not on page view. Once opened, it stores a conversation identifier in your browser (via a cookie and local storage) so your chat session and message history stay connected while you talk to us. This storage is strictly necessary for the chat you explicitly requested and falls under the exemption in TDDDG Section 25(2); it is not used for advertising, profiling, or cross-site tracking. If you never open the chat, nothing is stored. For how we handle the messages themselves and the AI assistant, see Section 11 of our Privacy Policy.
3.4 Error Tracking (Cookieless)
On the interactive pages of our website (the free invoice generator and the API playground) we report client-side JavaScript errors to our own self-hosted error tracker (GlitchTip) so we can find and fix bugs. It sets no cookies and stores no identifier on your device, and the content you type into the invoice form is stripped before an error report is sent. For details, see Section 8 of our Privacy Policy.
4. Web Storage
Our landing page uses your browser's local storage for one functional purpose:
| Key | Storage | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
beliq:lang | Local storage | Remembers the language you selected so your choice persists between visits. |
This value stays in your browser, is not sent to a third party, and is not used to track you. You can clear it at any time through your browser settings.
5. Third-Party Cookies
We do not use third-party advertising, tracking, or social media cookies. We do not participate in cross-site tracking or real-time bidding.
When you start a subscription checkout or open the billing customer portal, your browser may be redirected to pages hosted by our payment provider Creem (Armitage Labs OÜ). On those Creem-hosted pages, Creem may set or read cookies and similar technologies under its own privacy notice (Creem privacy policy). Beliq does not control those cookies; manage them through Creem's controls or your browser settings.
6. How to Manage Cookies
You can control and delete cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to:
- View what cookies are stored and delete them individually
- Block third-party cookies
- Block all cookies
- Delete all cookies when you close your browser
Please note that blocking essential cookies will prevent you from logging into the dashboard. For instructions on managing cookies in your browser, visit your browser's help pages:
7. Changes to This Cookie Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy to reflect changes in the technologies we use or legal requirements. The "Last updated" date at the top indicates when this policy was last revised.
